U.S.A.F. photos taken by SSGT Dave Nolan at Giebelstadt Army Airfield, Germany, in November 1984. A crash-landing a 37th Tactical Airlift Squadron C-130E. Buffeted by high winds on final approach the landing gear collapsed and the number one engine caught fire on touchdown. The propeller disintegrated, three crewmembers were injured, and there were no fatalities. |
