President George W. Bush successfully traps aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in a S-3B Viking assigned to the Blue Wolves of Sea Control Squadron Three Five (VS-35) designated "NAVY 1". President Bush is the first sitting President to trap aboard an aircraft carrier at sea. The President is conducting a visit aboard ship to meet with the Sailors and will address the Nation as Lincoln prepares to return from a 10-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. |

Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. (Jul. 18, 2003) -- Rear Adm. John W. Townes III, Vice Commander, Naval Education and Training Command speaks to guests at the dedication of Navy One. The VS-35 Blue Wolves flew their S-3B Viking anti-submarine warfare aircraft number 700 for its final flight from Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego to NAS Pensacola, Fla., on July 15. Aircraft 700 was designated Navy One, when Cmdr. John Skip Lussier, VS-35 Executive Officer flew President George W. Bush aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) on May 1, to declare an end to major fighting in the war with Iraq. |
