This US Douglas A-26 C Invader located at Tamiami Executive airport was painted in fake Cuban Air Force colors for the military invasion of Cuba undertaken by the CIA-sponsored paramilitary group Brigade 2506 in April 1961. Former USAAF 44-35440 (B-26B), this Invader was loaned to France in Feb1954 for service in Indochina. She returned to USAF Oct1955. Converted to Consort 26 by Rock Island Oil and Refining Co and became N6838D. Registered later as CF-MSB, and then C-FMSB. Now on display at Tamiani, FL painted as Cuban FAR (Fuerza Aerea Revolucionaria) AF 931, alledgly used during the Bay of Pigs assault activities by exiled Brigade 2506 liberation forces. |
