McDonnell F-4E Phantom II USAF 66-0315 was Thunderbird aircraft. Displayed on a pedestal in park at as Thunderbird #3. Monett Kiwanis Club helped assemble the F-4 Phantom Jet that arrived in pieces with no directions from an Air Force base in Arizona. The pedestal on which the plane sits came from a nuclear submarine. Many of the Thunderbird airplanes later went to Edwards were they finished out their careers. Her is 66-0315 on display at a Holloman open house in the 80s. (Camo with white wings! Pretty cool huh?) Last photo is taken from the T'Bird Website. |
